October 2024 – Release 2024.4.1

This release delivered major upgrades to GitHub and Jira integrations, making it significantly easier to connect and manage projects. HQ now supports Jira projects with multiple boards—each board is synced independently, accommodating more complex workflows.

September 2024 – Release 2024.4.0

A behind-the-scenes update released to private registries, this build introduced enhanced reporting, better connected project workflows, and improved Jira and GitHub integration. Discussions focused on rollout planning and maximizing adoption by connecting existing projects to issue trackers.

June 2024 – Release 2024.3.0

Key fixes landed for IntelliJ session editing stability and compatibility, along with backend Docker updates. Security was a major focus, with patches applied across core services to enhance overall platform safety.

March 2024 – Release 2024.3.1

This release focused on improving the reliability and security of CodeTogether for on-premises users. Fixes addressed terminal rendering and syntax highlighting issues in IntelliJ, resolved A/V problems in browser sessions, and patched multiple security vulnerabilities.

March 2024 – Release 2024.2.0

A significant update to session reliability and IDE support. This release included a critical sync fix for VS Code sessions, OpenEdge ABL syntax support, expanded dashboards, and the official migration from Gitter to GitHub for community interaction. Numerous security and session stability improvements were also included.

January 2024 – Release 2024.1.0

This release introduced rebranding of extensions to “CodeTogether Live” and launched a new, scalable SaaS infrastructure. It improved compatibility with newer versions of IntelliJ and Eclipse, optimized memory usage, and resolved multiple collaboration edge cases—especially in older IDEs.

December 2023 – Release 2023.3.0

A major update for CodeTogether HQ, this release introduced full Visual Studio support, allowing organizations to collect intelligence metrics across both VS and other IDEs. Two new reports were added: the Project Allocations Report for understanding developer investments, and the Source Activity Report, which breaks down activity across code areas and work types.

September 2023 – Release 2023.2.0

Aimed at smoother session continuity, this release added automatic reconnection for IDE clients, enhanced IntelliJ 2023.2 compatibility, and adopted secure storage for sensitive credentials in VS Code.

April 2023 – Release 2023.1.1

Focused on resolving authentication issues in VS Code Team sessions and improving terminal visibility for IntelliJ 2023.1 users.

March 2023 – Release 2023.1.0

Enhanced collaboration with test output visibility in IntelliJ, Kotlin test execution, better server/port sharing, and support for secure guest verification using pairing codes. Additional improvements targeted JetBrains Gateway and VS Code file sync reliability.

July 2022 – Release 2022.2.1–2.3

A series of updates brought improvements to VS Code typing responsiveness, SSO compatibility, and Eclipse 2022-09 integration. Users also experienced enhanced browser-based navigation and improved session consistency across IDEs.

March 2022 – Release 2022.1.x Series

This series of releases emphasized performance and consistency. It introduced anonymous free session access, enhancements to visual cursor control, IDE dashboards for on-premises users, and faster code completion and joining workflows.

October 2021 – Release 5.0.0–5.0.1

A milestone release introducing full support for audio, video, and screen sharing. Multiple improvements landed for IntelliSense, terminal stability, and real-time collaboration across heterogeneous IDEs.

June 2021 – Release 4.1.0

Focused on usability and scale, this release added support for server sharing, ABAP development, workspace-wide search, and simplified session management through virtual cursors.

March 2021 – Release 4.0.0

CodeTogether Teams launched in this release, bringing role-based collaboration, secure terminal access, and new capabilities like call/type hierarchies and better IDE navigation tools.

Early 2020–2021 Highlights

During this period, CodeTogether introduced features that shaped its core value: simultaneous editing, join-from-IDE support, unit test visibility, session persistence, and on-premises deployment. Regular updates delivered new language support, test integration, and significant usability upgrades to remote development.
