Available as both a cloud-based service (SaaS) and an on-premises deployment, CodeTogether empowers your team with actionable insights across the software development lifecycle while enabling seamless live collaboration.

CodeTogether installation and project setup are performed once by an administrator. Engineers do not need individual license keys—they simply install the CodeTogether plugin for their IDE and are ready to go.

This guide walks you through the steps to get your CodeTogether suite up and running quickly.

CodeTogether is highly flexible and lightweight, requiring minimal bandwidth—making it ideal for both in-office and globally distributed teams.


Prerequisites​

To get started with CodeTogether, ensure your development environment meets the following requirements.

CodeTogether seamlessly integrates with a wide range of IDEs, enabling developers to work efficiently within their preferred tools while gaining actionable insights into their workflows early in the development process. Additionally, CodeTogether supports cross-IDE collaboration, empowering teams to work together regardless of their tool of choice.

Browsers

To access the CodeTogether portal, which serves as the central hub for the Intelligence Suite, a modern web browser is required. A browser is also necessary to use the platform's built-in audio and video collaboration features.

Getting Started​

Setting up CodeTogether is simple and efficient.

Step 1: Install the Backend (On-Premises Only)

Install the backend and database on your server, and configure SSO. If you’re using the cloud-based (SaaS) version, skip this step. For details, see the CodeTogether On-Premises Installation Guide.

Step 2: Set Up the Project

Connect CodeTogether to your existing tools, such as issue trackers and repositories, for a seamless onboarding experience. For details, see Setting Up Your Project.

Step 3: Add CodeTogether to IDEs

Each team member installs CodeTogether into their IDE, enabling live collaboration and providing immediate insights into developer workflows. For details, see Adding CodeTogether to the IDE.

Step 4: Optimize Development

With setup complete, CodeTogether starts analyzing your data. Full model training typically takes about two weeks, delivering actionable intelligence to enhance processes. For details, see Getting Started with CodeTogether.
